Training objective (§5 PflBG)

• Acquisition of the specialist skills required for the independent, comprehensive and process-oriented Nursing of people of all ages in acute and long-term inpatient and outpatient care situations.

Theoretical training

• Specialist nursing content with integration of general education subjects: German, politics, religion, English
• approx. 2400 hours
• Action-oriented learning units based on a comprehensive professional field analysis carried out in the various care settings as part of the development of the KraniCH curriculum 2017/18

Practical training

• As a supramaximal care provider, the MHH offers comprehensive opportunities to deepen nursing skills
• in various departments of acute inpatient care
• Placements in home-based outpatient Nursing and long-term care are provided by our cooperation partners in the Hanover area.
• Independent practical instructors accompany the trainees individually over 3 years of training up to the final examination.

Practical assignments

1st and 2nd third of training 1,720 hrs.

• Orientation assignment (MHH) 400 hrs.
• Compulsory inpatient acute care (MHH) 400 hrs.
• Compulsory inpatient long-term care 400 hrs.
• Compulsory outpatient Nursing 400 hrs.
• Compulsory assignment in pediatric care (MHH) 120 hrs.

3rd third of training 780 hrs.

• Compulsory assignment in psychiatric care (MHH) 120 hrs.
• Further optional assignment (nursing advice, Erasmus) (MHH) 160 hrs.
• Optional in-depth assignment (pediatrics, psychiatry or stat. Acute care (intensive care unit) (MHH) 500 hrs.

The students receive their own tablet for collaborative work, research and presentation.

They can also access the MHH's entire online library and specialist journals.

As part of project work, trainees are given the opportunity to contribute their ideas and concepts to the training and present them professionally (for example at the Ideas Expo, the Training Day, the Patient University, the Long Night of Professions and the inclusion project at the Fährmannsfest).

During your training, various excursions to different Facilities or Institutions are offered as part of the lessons. Furthermore, school trips and day trips as well as regular festivals are organized at the school to support the social community.

During their training, the trainees will take part in a basic course in kinaesthetics (teaching the sensations of movement). In the further course of their training, they will then have the opportunity to take part in further practical kinaesthetics seminars. Here, together with a kinaesthetics trainer, problems that have arisen during work in the practice are addressed.

We have been successfully participating in the European exchange project for several years and work closely with various institutions. The practical placement lasts 4-7 weeks and offers the trainees an insight into other European healthcare systems.

In learning coaching, individual learning difficulties are addressed and worked on. Learning coaching is a very solution- and resource-oriented approach that focuses on the student's individual learning difficulties. The student develops suitable strategies that lead to greater learning success, motivation and fun while learning.
