at the Institute of Medical Microbiology and Hospital Hygiene

The Hospital Hygiene Division at the Institute of Medical Microbiology and Hospital Hygiene is responsible for the areas of patient care (wards, outpatient clinics, operating and functional areas) at MHH. It is the central point of contact and cooperation partner with regard to infection prevention and hygiene management. Our evidence-based work is based on the guidelines and recommendations of the Commission for Infection Prevention and Hospital Hygiene (KRINKO) at the Robert Koch Institute and the Infection Protection Act (IfSG).

The core tasks of the Hospital Hygiene Division in the area of patient care include

  • To propose infection prevention measures and coordinate their implementation, particularly in dealing with communicable infectious diseases and pathogens with specific resistances.
  • Carrying out or supporting the surveillance of nosocomial infections and pathogens with special resistance (e.g. multi-resistance).
  • To carry out hospital hygiene inspections.

  • To carry out hospital hygiene training and further training.

  • Management of outbreak situations

  • Cooperation with the supervisory authorities.

  • Participating in the preparation and implementation of structural measures
