The aim of the study is to evaluate the implementation and effectiveness of WEITBLICK. WEITBLICK is a framework strategy for school-based health promotion that enables schools to (1) validly identify their school-specific prevention needs and (2) select, (3) implement and (4) monitor demonstrably effective measures from the Green List Prevention evidence register that match these needs. In order for this to succeed, the schools must first expand their prevention capacity (e.g. prevention knowledge, intersectoral cooperation for prevention, integrated overall strategy, opportunities for participation). The central questions of the evaluation study are: (1) To what extent do schools succeed in implementing WEITBLICK? (2) What factors influence implementation? (3) To what extent does WEITBLICK improve the schools' prevention-specific capacities? (4) To what extent does WEITBLICK increase the number of evidence-based measures implemented and the number of people reached? (5) To what extent does WEITBLICK improve the quality of implementation of prevention measures? (6) To what extent does WEITBLICK improve risk and protective factors for health behavior as well as health behavior itself? The data basis for the evaluation is a prospective controlled longitudinal study, for which around 70 to 150 schools will be recruited. For each school, (1) approximately ten school key informants (e.g. school staff, student and parent representatives) are interviewed about the prevention capacity of their school, (2) all persons who carry out prevention measures at the school are interviewed about the implementation quality and scope of the measures and (3) students are interviewed about health behavior as well as risk and protective factors for health behavior. At schools that introduce WEITBLICK, the team responsible for implementation is also surveyed. For the analyses, the data from these surveys are combined and evaluated in relation to each other (e.g. multi-level and mediation analyses). This enables the causal analysis of school development processes.
