Single center: Congenital immunodeficiencies in childhood
Our defense system (immune system) defends our body against germs such as viruses, bacteria and fungi. Immune defense is a very complicated process that can be disrupted by a variety of genetic defects. Such immunodeficiencies are rare and often difficult to diagnose, and their detection and treatment requires a great deal of specialist knowledge. The Immunodeficiency Outpatient Department of Paediatric Pneumology, Allergology and Neonatology is the center for the diagnosis and treatment of combined immunodeficiencies in the context of newborn screening and is part of the Jeffrey Model Center for Immunodeficiencies at the MHH. It offers the complete diagnosis and treatment of congenital immunodeficiencies in children and adolescents.
Competencies of the individual center:
- Diagnosis and treatment of congenital disorders of the immune system (immunodeficiencies)
- Research into disorders of the immune system (genetics, functions, progression and treatment)
- Teaching with presentation of immunodeficiencies
