Digitalization and science in medical studies

Background
The course for modernized medical education is being set on various tracks: In the form of training concepts (new AO, Masterplan for Medical Studies 2020), new examination objectives (IMPP subject catalog) and updated competence descriptions (NKLM). All stakeholders are striving to anchor digital and scientific skills more firmly in medical studies. But how can the complex and dynamic development of the digitalization of healthcare be integrated into medical studies? A cooperation project between the Office of Academic Affairs and the Peter L. Reichertz Institute of Medical Informatics at the MHH is exploring this question in order to provide new impetus for the training of today's and tomorrow's physicians.

Objective
An interdisciplinary working group with six members from Human Medicine, Medical Informatics and Teaching and Learning Research was formed at Hannover Medical School in April 2019 as part of the DigiWissMed project. The aim is to create a cross-disciplinary and cross-year curriculum on digitalization and science in human medicine studies. The DigiWissMed project is being funded for three years by the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture.
