The Clinical Department for Pediatric Hematology and Oncology is one of the most renowned specialist departments of its kind in Germany. It not only provides pediatric care for children with all types of malignant childhood diseases, but also performs all types of stem cell transplants. A hallmark of the clinic is the close networking between the Clinical Department and research. The result is state-of-the-art therapies combined with the latest findings on the development and treatment of hematological diseases in children.
Facilities or Institutions of an internal quality management system are mandatory in Germany. However, certification is voluntary. Our Clinical Department has opted for certification in accordance with the DIN EN ISO 9001 standard. This places the highest demands on our processes and places a high value on meeting the requirements of our patients and their relatives, as well as on cooperation with other external and internal partners.
Furthermore, our stem cell transplant unit was successfully accredited to JACIE together with the adult transplant unit in 2014. JACIE is the Joint Accreditation Committee ISCT and EBMT. Here, a very high standard for the treatment and care of patients and relatives before, during and after transplantation is defined at European level. This is also characterized by close cooperation with the donor registries, the collection centers and the stem cell processing Institute. In order to be able to guarantee our patients and relatives the best possible care, we have opted for joint accreditation with the following medical facilities or Institutions:

Certification
We were successfully certified at the beginning of 2014 and additionally accredited in July 2014. Building on this, we are constantly developing our quality management system and are subject to regular internal and external audits. At the end of 2015, our Clinical Department was successfully re-certified for the first time. In 2017, the MHH as a whole was certified in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001:2015.
In addition, we were audited by pediatric oncology experts in 2016 and received the "Pediatric Oncology Center with Recommendation of the German Cancer Society" award.
