The Clinical Department for Rehabilitation Medicine at the MHH offers a comprehensive range of therapeutic services in line with guidelines as part of the special consultation hours for incontinence.

Disorders of bladder and bowel function, organ prolapse or pain in the pelvic floor structures of various kinds, such as after operations (e.g. prostatectomy), birth injuries (e.g. perineal tear), compression syndromes or psychological disorders are treated on an outpatient basis by a specialist physiotherapy team following a medical examination and rehabilitative assessments.
Indications include conditions such as stress and faecal incontinence, neurogenic and non-neurogenic overactive bladder, voiding disorders and organ prolapse. Patients are also treated promptly before and after urological or gynecological operations.

Therapeutic methods of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) to reduce symptoms, such as acupuncture or electro-acupuncture, have been available to patients on a self-pay basis in addition to pelvic floor training since June 2018.

The Clinical Department for Rehabilitation Medicine at the MHH offers follow-up treatment for complex hand and/or tendon injuries and other diseases of the hand. In the so-called "fast-track" treatment, inpatients at the MHH can, after prior registration, present themselves in the Clinical Department's outpatient clinic just one day after their discharge for the start of further outpatient treatment.

There is intensive interdisciplinary and multi-professional cooperation with the physicians from the Plastic Hand and Reconstructive Surgery, Trauma Surgery, Pain Therapy, Psychosomatic Medicine and the team of physicians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and hydrotherapists from the Clinical Department of Rehabilitation Medicine.

The focus of treatment is on restoring or improving hand function in everyday life and at work, for example by providing splints, supports, finger orthoses or compression therapy. The course of therapy is documented using specific progress questionnaires and discussed in team meetings between physicians and therapists.

The Clinical Department for Rehabilitation Medicine at the MHH offers outpatient follow-up treatment for acute and chronic neurological diseases (e.g. stroke, stroke, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, polyneuropathy, traumatic brain injury) as well as assessment to optimize ongoing therapy.

The aim is to reduce the neurological consequences (e.g. weakness of the foot, hemiparesis, paraparesis, paraplegia, ataxia, etc.), to compensate for the deficits and to improve the patient's mobility, independence and participation in everyday life and work.

Treatment in our Clinical Department is carried out in a multidisciplinary manner by various professional groups such as physiotherapists, occupational therapists and masseurs. Before treatment begins, assessments are carried out to determine the problem, pain, depression/anxiety, independence, quality of life, etc. The patient is then examined by a physician of physical and rehabilitative medicine and the treatment goals are determined in an interdisciplinary manner with the therapists, the patient and his/her family.

The therapy concepts and methods we use include Bobath, Perfetti, perceptual therapy according to Affolter, brain performance training or everyday-oriented therapy (AOT)
If indicated, we also offer functional electrical stimulation for foot drop palsy, muscular stimulation for nerve injuries, gait training with "Andago", treadmill therapy and exercise therapy.
