The Eurotransplant Liaison Office (ET-VB) of the MHH
At the MHH, a central office, the Eurotransplant Liaison Office (ET-VB), ensures that organ offers from the organ procurement center Eurotransplant (Leiden, Netherlands) are accepted around the clock. Together with the German Organ Transplantation Foundation (DSO), it also organizes the transport of donor organs to the MHH Transplant Centre. The ET-VB also ensures that patients are informed about the offer of a donor organ and that they arrive at the Transplant Centre in good time for transplantation.
Transplant coordinators work in the ET-VB, supported by a qualified student service for accepting organ offers around the clock. Together with the Clinical Departments involved in the transplantation, the ET-VB team ensures that patients are listed for organ transplantation at Eurotransplant. For this purpose, the data of patients who are to receive an organ (kidney, pancreas, liver, heart, lung) in accordance with the guidelines of the German Medical Association (urgency and likelihood of success) are transmitted to ET and constantly kept up to date.
More than 1,000 patients are currently waiting for an organ transplant on the waiting lists of the MHH Transplant Centre.
