Interdisciplinary Renal Cell Carcinoma Center
December 2015 saw the launch of the Interdisciplinary Renal Cell Carcinoma Center at the MHH. In addition to the Clinical Department of Urology and the known cooperation partners, the nephrology department of the Medical School is also involved.
Thanks to excellent cooperation both within the MHH and with colleagues in private practice, the two departments aim to pool their expertise. The Urological Tumor Center was certified at the beginning of 2017 and thus officially recognized.
The physicians act in accordance with European guidelines. They stipulate, for example, that partial kidney resection is the treatment of choice for kidney tumors up to 7 cm in size. Thanks to the increasing use of imaging techniques, small kidney tumors in particular can be detected earlier. Partial kidney resection is an organ-preserving procedure in which the healthy part of the kidney is preserved. This operation can be performed using open surgery, laparoscopy or robot-assisted surgery.
The MHH is one of the largest centers for kidney tumor surgery in Germany.
Further information on the structures of our center can be found here.

Our oncology consultation takes place every Wednesday. The aim here is to explain the disease to our patients and draw up an individual treatment plan. A quick and precise diagnosis as well as questions about the various treatment options are the focus of this special consultation.
Together with you, our aim is to work out a way to cure the tumor disease and plan the associated steps.
We will be happy to advise you on this in our oncology consultation hours.
⇒ always Wednesdays 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
You should bring images that have already been taken (e.g. CTs or MRIs) on CD to this appointment so that an assessment and treatment planning can be carried out quickly.
