Single center: Pulmonary hypertension in childhood
We are working on the identification and evaluation of new prognostic biomarkers and treatment options in pulmonary hypertension. In particular, we want to improve the diagnosis and treatment strategies for pulmonary hypertension in children and adolescents.
Competencies of the individual center:
Focus on pediatric cardiology and congenital heart defects
- Heart defects, congenital and acquired
- Preparation for heart surgery and post-operative care
- Heart failure, medication and implantation of artificial hearts
- Arterial hypertension ("high blood pressure")
- Pulmonary hypertension ("high lung pressure"), entire spectrum
- Pulmonary vein stenosis (obstruction of the pulmonary veins)
- Cardiomyopathies
- Congenital and acquired vascular diseases including vascular complications of previous surgical or catheter-guided interventions
- Williams-Beuren syndrome
- Marfan syndrome
- Down syndrome with pulmonary hypertension
Focus on intensive care medicine
- Pediatric cardiology (treatment of heart disease in children)
- Pediatric intensive care medicine (care of all children at the MHH who require intensive medical treatment)
