The special outpatient clinic for peripartum cardiomyopathy (PPCM), which is unique in Germany, treats patients with pregnancy-associated heart disease and provides long-term care.
A major focus of the outpatient clinic is the assessment and consultation of patients who are referred by external centers and practicing cardiologists with a suspected diagnosis of PPCM. In close cooperation with the MHH Women's Clinical Department, patients with a high-risk pregnancy due to acquired heart disease are closely monitored and prepared for delivery. In addition, new diagnostic methods (e.g. using cardio-MRI) and treatment strategies are tested as part of clinical studies.
