Welcome to the Website of the Department of Medical Psychology*
We are delighted that you have found your way to the Department of Medical Psychology at the Center for Public Health and Health Services Research at Hannover Medical School!
Our research focuses on psychological and psychosocial factors that influence the prevention, treatment and management of physical illnesses in patients. This also includes approaches to promote professional compliance to prevent hospital-acquired infections. Our work focuses on the so-called "empowerment" of patients and healthcare providers, e.g. through psychoeducation and training.
In teaching, our focus is on the psychological foundations of medicine and physician-patient communication and communication skills for second-year students.
Finally, the MHH's Simulation Patient Program (SPP-MHH) is based here, which primarily provides simulation patients for MHH study programs. If you are interested in making yourself available to students in simulated ("posed") conversation or examination situations to practice communicative and practical medical skills, please contact us (by telephone see below or mhh.de/simulationspatients).
