BAP Data protection information

in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for our training and further education participants of the Training Academy for Nursing (BAP) at Hannover Medical School.

You have a Legal right to informational self-determination, which includes Data Protection and privacy.

The Training Academy for Nursing at Hannover Medical School takes the protection of your personal data very seriously. We collect personal data from you and process and use it for the Academy's own purposes. To enable you to exercise your legal rights under data protection law, we provide you with an overview of which data we process or use and how.

What data do we use?

To apply for your training or further education place in one of the areas of the Training Academy for Nursing, we will receive a complete application from you, including certificates and references, a cover letter and a passport photo. The application will be sent by post or digitally. The personal data you provide will be digitally encrypted and stored on the MHH servers and kept locked in filing cabinets at the Training Academy for Nursing. In the event of a rejection, you will receive your complete documents back within three weeks.

You can visit our website. When you visit our website, data is stored on our servers for security purposes, such as the name of your internet provider, the website from which you are visiting us and your IP address.

By using the email forms that are integrated on our site, we store your name, your email address, your telephone number (if provided) and your message solely for the corresponding purpose.

This data would allow identification, but no personal utilization takes place in this regard.

When you start your training or further education at the Training Academy for Nursing, you will attend various classes, write written exams and take part in written, practical and oral exams. You will receive printed materials. As part of your practical training or further training, the data you need to plan your placement will be sent to the cooperation partners for practical training/further training. All measures are managed administratively.

In order to use your data for training and further education purposes, data will be recorded and kept in lists or databases for the respective area.

Your passport photo is used for the creation of training and further education contracts, identification on semester ID cards. Photos taken as part of your training or further education require your separate consent for internal use and for the school's own advertising purposes.

The Finance Department and Human Resources Management will receive the data necessary for the payment of your salary; if you apply for tickets via MHH, this data will be transmitted to Facility Management.

Furthermore, your data relating to your training/continuing education will be reported to the state education authority or the German Hospital Association for exam admission and to the Ministry of Lower Saxony for the preparation of your professional certificates. As a participant in further training, you will be registered with the State Office for Social Affairs, Youth and Family and with the Lower Saxony Chamber of Nursing for exam admission and for the issue of your professional certificate.

How long will the data be stored?

The duration of the storage of your data depends on the relevant statutory retention obligations and the necessity of data retention/storage, unless there are overriding interests.

What legal rights do you have?

You have the legal right to information about the personal data stored concerning you (Art. 15 GDPR). If you discover that incorrect personal data concerning you is being processed, you can request rectification (Art. 16 GDPR). You have the legal right to request the erasure of your personal data if certain grounds for erasure apply. This is the case, for example, if the personal data is no longer necessary for the purpose for which it was originally collected or processed or if you withdraw your consent and there is no other legal basis for the processing (Art. 17 GDPR). Furthermore, you have the legal right to restrict the processing of your personal data (Art. 18 GDPR), to data portability (Art. 20 GDPR) and a general right to object (Art. 21 GDPR).
