Dear patients and parents!

A stay in the Clinical Department is always fraught with expectations, but often also with worries. We have put together some information here to help you find your way around and feel well looked after and comfortable with us.

In our patient information you will find information on the procedures on the wards or in the outpatient clinics, so that you will hopefully find quick answers to your questions. Our Clinical Department of Paediatric Cardiology and Intensive Care Medicine is responsible for two major areas:

Cardiology deals with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the heart and circulatory system.

Intensive care medicine deals with all potentially life-threatening clinical pictures and is responsible when respiratory therapies are necessary.

However, cardiology and intensive care medicine also overlap in many areas, e.g. in the care of patients after heart surgery or in cases of severe myocarditis, for example.
