Oncology Center

The Oncology Center (OZ) forms the umbrella for the organ cancer centers in the Comprehensive Cancer Center (CCC) of the MHH. Both our Oncology Center and our organ cancer centers are certified by the German Cancer Society. Studies show that treatment in certified centers means a better chance of survival for those affected (see WiZen study, among others). Our work focuses on the patients, who can turn to us with confidence at any stage of the disease.

A qualified network of specialists from the Departments of Surgery, Radiology, Radiotherapy, Nuclear Medicine, Pathology, Laboratory Diagnostics, Human Genetics and Internal Oncology work together in our Oncology Center. During the entire course of treatment, interdisciplinary and interprofessional coordination with the patient's individual disease situation plays a central role. At the heart of our certified cancer center are a large number of interdisciplinary tumor conferences and the molecular tumor board for patients with particularly severe cancer.

We place particular emphasis on the holistic care of our patients and their families. This is why oncological Nursing, psycho-oncology, social work, physiotherapy, rehabilitation and sports medicine, nutritional medicine, complementary medicine as well as pastoral care and palliative medicine are of great importance. A large number of other specialized professional groups work hand in hand under one roof. If standard therapy concepts have failed or better treatment options may be available for patients, we also offer the use of new drugs or combinations as part of clinical studies.

We are the point of contact for regional partners regarding the implementation of tumor boards, second opinion procedures or special diagnostics. We will be happy to help you with any questions you may have about cancer and treatment.
