Doctorate, further training and other opportunities
Here you will find an overview of the international MD/PhD programs of the Hannover Biometrical Research School (HBRS).

A special portal for international PostDocs of the EU department of the MHH provides valuable information on funding opportunities for research stays at the MHH. This portal also provides information on the research groups interested in hosting international PostDocs. If you are interested in a research stay with your own funding via a scholarship, please use the contact forms and offers of assistance provided on the portal.
Information on all other research focuses and working groups at the MHH can be found on the pages of the Dean's Office of Research.
Please address your request directly to the head of the relevant research focus or working group.
Physicians who have obtained their license to practice medicine abroad and are interested in working at the MHH should address their request directly to the head of the relevant Clinical Department. An overview of the Clinical Departments and Research Institutes can be found here.
Please note that you can only work as a physician in Germany with a valid license to practice medicine. You can apply for a license to practice medicine regardless of your nationality (source: German Medical Association). The licensing authorities of the respective federal states are responsible for issuing the license to practice medicine or professional permit. If you wish to practise in Lower Saxony, the Lower Saxony Special Purpose Association for Licensing (NiZzA) is responsible. Forms and checklists for the recognition of foreign professional qualifications in Lower Saxony can be found here.
Please note that you will need proof of language skills at B2 level and a specialist language test to apply for your license to practice medicine.
Dentists from abroad are also subject to special regulations for practicing dentistry in Germany. Further information can be found on the website of the German Dental Association. For further information on the documents required for the application for a license to practice and other questions, please contact the competent authority of the federal state in which you wish to work. We recommend contacting the dental associations of the federal state in question for further information. You can also find a list of the dental associations of the federal states on the website of the German Dental Association.
There are various professional language courses for physicians from abroad who would like to improve their German language skills for everyday practice and clinical work. One example of this is the "Professional language course - German for physicians/German for pharmacists" run by the Institute for Languages and Communications in Hanover.
