Treatment and care of children and adolescents before and after lung and heart/lung transplantation.

Monday to Friday 07:00 to 13:00

The Clinical Department for Rehabilitation Medicine at the MHH offers follow-up treatment for complex hand and/or tendon injuries and other diseases of the hand. In the so-called "fast-track" treatment, inpatients at the MHH can, after prior registration, present themselves in the Clinical Department's outpatient clinic just one day after their discharge for the start of further outpatient treatment.

There is intensive interdisciplinary and multi-professional cooperation with the physicians from the Plastic Hand and Reconstructive Surgery, Trauma Surgery, Pain Therapy, Psychosomatic Medicine and the team of physicians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and hydrotherapists from the Clinical Department of Rehabilitation Medicine.

The focus of treatment is on restoring or improving hand function in everyday life and at work, for example by providing splints, supports, finger orthoses or compression therapy. The course of therapy is documented using specific progress questionnaires and discussed in team meetings between physicians and therapists.

By arrangement

• Minimally invasive treatment of diseases of the brain, especially the cerebral vessels, tumors of the head and neck, as well as degenerative and vascular lesions of the spinal column and spinal cord.

For some diseases in children and adolescents, hematopoietic stem cell transplantation is the only possible cure. In the KMT outpatient clinic, patients and their families are informed about this form of treatment and, if necessary, prepared for the transplant. Children and adolescents who are discharged from inpatient treatment after a transplant regularly come to the KMT outpatient clinic to receive competent care from the physicians they already know.

This support service includes treatment-related psychosocial/psychooncological counseling for women suffering from breast cancer, ovarian cancer, cervical cancer, uterine cancer and other rare gynecological cancers:

• during drug-based tumor therapies in the chemotherapy outpatient clinic

The thyroid outpatient clinic at the MHH treats patients with the following diseases:

• Clarification of a thyroid nodule
• Thyroid cancer
• Graves' disease
• Autoimmune thyroiditis
• Enlarged thyroid gland (goitre)
• Adjusting the dose of thyroid medication

Consultation for findings requiring clarification (referral from gynaecologist required) - early detection or diagnosis of benign and malignant breast diseases using mammography screening, breast ultrasound, biopsy (tissue removal), e.g. for

• Breast cancer precursors (DCIS - ductal carcinoma in situ)
• Breast cancer (in women and men)
• Fibroadenoma
• Cysts in the breast
• Pain in the breast
• Gynecomastia in men

Our breast center has already been certified several times by the DKG for its special expertise in the oncological treatment of breast cancer.

Liver outpatient clinic Mon to Thu from 8-12:30 and 13:30-15:30, Fri 8-13:30

The liver outpatient clinic treats patients with advanced liver disease for whom the only treatment option is a liver transplant. The outpatient team looks after patients during the waiting period, in preparation for the operation and after the transplant. During aftercare, the outpatient team also takes care of all illnesses associated with the transplant.
