Welcome to the Lung Cancer Center
With over 50,000 new cases every year, lung cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer in Germany. Due to its still unfavorable prognosis, it is by far the most common cause of cancer death in men (25%) and the second most common in women (15%). At Hannover Medical School, we will not leave you alone with this serious diagnosis.
Proven specialists from a variety of different disciplines such as pneumology, thoracic surgery, radiotherapy, radiology, nuclear medicine, oncology and pathology have been working together successfully across disciplines for years. Thanks to state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, it is possible to plan treatment tailored to individual needs. We use the latest state-of-the-art treatment methods and in certain cases offer our patients participation in clinical trials to obtain new therapeutic agents, especially when standard treatment methods reach their limits. By working closely together in an interdisciplinary and interprofessional team with psycho-oncologists, social workers, oncology nurses, respiratory therapists and physiotherapists, we can guarantee the best possible care for our patients at all times.
The Lung Cancer Center meets the quality criteria defined by the German Cancer Society and has been awarded the title "Lung Cancer Center with Recommendation of the German Cancer Society".
